3 Layers of Water Protection from VELUX Skylights

The VELUX patented deck seal technology will ensure your skylights won’t leak.

1. First layer of protection: For deck-mounted skylights, nail the deck seal to the roof-deck for an airtight seal. For curb-mounted skylights, the pre-attached gasket provides the first layer of protection.

2. Second layer of protection: Install the all-weather underlayment, covering the sides of the skylight and about 6 inches around the skylight on the roof-deck. In locations with extreme weather, your installer may install an additional all-weather underlayment up to 2 feet around the skylight.

3. Third layer of protection: Install the flashing. We carefully designed the flashing to ensure a leak-proof design.
